Might be an idea to have a look at the DELL website as a good place to start.

Yep, go to the Dell website and click 'small and medium business' to get access to the Vostro range.

The Vostro 1000 and Vostro 1500 both start in the € 249 range (plus vat). Make sure to select Windows XP instead of Windows Vista, as the lower end machines with less ram and slower processors will run much nicer with XP.

    Edit -
    Vostro 1500 NB(N0415002)
    Intel® Celeron® Processor M 540 (1.86 GHz, 1 MB L2 cache, 533 MHz FSB)
    Genuine Windows XP
    1Yr Basic Warranty
    15.4" Wide Screen WXGA (1280 x 800) Display
Matte Jet Black with 2.0 mega pixel camera
    2048MB (2x1024) 667MHz DDR2 Dual Channel
    120GB (5400rpm) SATA Hard Drive
Integrated Intel® Graphic Media Accelerator X3100
    Fixed Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Drive
    Primary 6-cell Lithium-Ion Battery (56 WHr)
Dell™ Wireless 1395 (802.11 b/g) MiniPCI Card [Included in Price]

    €259 plus vat & delivery
That's a good laptop at a good price. The ram and HD are more than what you usually get with low-end machines, and with Windows XP it should run fine and do what you need.
