This puts all the arguments about 'ladies only' tournaments to shame.

What exactly is the purpose of the tourny?

Its hardly just to raise the profile of the company if you have to do an interview to qualify. Will the interview include numerical reasoning Q's etc. like regular internship interviews, or will the questioning be along the lines of 'Who's your favourite poker player'.

Are you looking to recruit people for summer internships this year/next year through this event, if so what do they involve?

I'd be interested in playing the tournement but would just like to know what im getting myself in for

might play. Will have an engineering degree in a week.

At above, they ring you and ask you probability questions I believe. You don't have to do an interview with them for a job etc.

emmm i would have thought it obvious but if you really need it spelled out i was intonating that the entry requirements were severe and those that dislike ladies only tournaments would possibly have a problem with strict entry requirements for a poker tournament,ok?

Its a recruitment drive, and the type of people they want would be doing those courses, so therefore no point allowing a landscape gardner student play it as they(SIG) would get nothing out of it.

If a poker site wants to hold a freeroll for all their VIP players should they not be allowed to?

If somebody wants to hold an invite only tournament should they not be able to?

If I want to host a home game and not invite cooker3 because he's a nit should I not be allowed to?

You're doing the equivalent of arguing for free speech on a privately owned internet message board.

So basically this is a massive information accumulator from which they can actually headhunt, very smart imo.
Only problem is that they will get a good number of educated degenerates.

Their trading strategy is based to a degree around poker, particularly limit. The general ideas of making decisions based on limited information, conditional probability and +EV decisions. Thus the interview will include numerical reasoning Q's but also poker questions similar enough to what you might find in the stategy forum

You could have done, but the deadline for applications was several weeks ago so you can't anymore.

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't take business students, although id be happy to be corrected.

You're possibly correct. Not having done a business degree myself I'm not sure how much maths (if any) would be involved.

However, the question thesoulfulldude was whether or not he could apply. There was of course nothing stopping business students from chancing it and throwing in an application!

True. There is plenty of maths involved if you choose the right subjects, and structure it towards a more financial outlook, if you choose the HR or marketing then, of course, the analytical side of of the course is not so pertinent.
