Right so got a canon 350D back when it was out a little while I think it was christmas 2005 and its been going good since, up until now..

Brought it home one day after having out, took out the memory card and batteries and charged them. Now when they were charged I put them back in(im using a battery grip) and the memory card and now the camera wont even turn on.. It seems completely dead?

I just thought of something could it be that little disc battery in it be wasted?

Did it get wet at all?
If so stick it in the hotpress for a day

Have you tried it without the battery grip?

Have you tried putting the battery directly into the camera (not using the battery grip so eliminating that as the problem).... I guess there is the possibility of a power surge damaging the battery when it was charging...highly unlikely but possible... not sure about the disc battery - maybe someone else can comment

Theres a latch that goes on the camera when theres only one battery and I cant seem to find it! So its no use trying it with just one..

The battery door should be attached to the battery grip. It slots into the part that goes up into the battery compartment.

    just on this...

the 350D has, in my rather extensive experience, the ability to stand up to getting very wet. But to dry it off, I would not put it in the hot press. I would sit it on the diningroom table and wait.

Sounds like it is dead, mine went like that. You can put a battery in even if the door is not on it to check.

Not true. The door has to be present and closed before the camera will turn on. same with the battery grip, the latch on the grip has to be closed before the camera will turn on. There's an electric contact in there to make sure.

Have you checked if the original battery door is attached to the battery grip at the side of the bit which goes in the camera? That's where it's supposed to stay...

Yea I found it.. felt really stupid though having put it there in the 1st place :(

Anyways got the new disc battery and that did nothing so I think now my only hope is to send it back to canon to see if they can fix it! Anyone have experiences with this? Is it Free?

    That, I did not know.

Just checked on my 350D and indeed there is a CMOS in there just inside the little door for the main battery.

    Thanks for the info folks!

No camera shop in town do repairs? Or that could tell you if it is worth sending to canon?
