appologies if in wrong forum, if so feel free to move to correct area.

i have been reccomended to get a medical test in the hospital. i have no medical card or private health insurance. the hospital told me that i can recieve the test in 3-4 weeks if i go private and pay for it, otherwise i can get it free but wait for up to ten weeks.

i dont mind paying for it as alone it is not too expensive, but i was just wondering if i have to go on and have further treatment (that may prove costly) will i have to stay private or can i then go public?

thanks for any help or advice you may have.

you can decide to go public at any stage

You should do a search of the forum. There was a fairly recent thread where I think someone said that once you go private for something you have to stay private for that particular treatment. I'm not sure though.

I'm pretty sure you can just go public when you want. The health service is there for everyone, and they can't deny you access to it if you need it.

You would just get the referring doc to send you for the follow up at the public clinic.

some tests happen faster if you go private - you just do that test and then bring the results back to the public clinic.....
