Hello, I'v moved over to Birmingham for the foreseeable future and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for stuff to do?
I've went to the footy already :p

Anyone know of any nice bars with good live music?

Sort of depends what music you like.
Broad street has a load of cafes and bars, and the city centre is ok for bars, but not too many for live music.
There is a free magazine (can't remember the name) that has gig listings and guides of things to do

Depending on your age there are some good uni type bars out in Aston, near enough the industrial estates so you get some grown ups in there too :D

Lots of shopping to be had also, but I'm sure you know that already. I can't really remember what I got up to in my spare time when I lived there :(

    Thanks for the info.

Broad Street has lots of bars etc, but they are all more or less cast in the lager lout/disco bar mode, not really my cup of tea, but i can tolerate it for an hour or 2 every once in a while. The mailbox is a newish area close by and its quite nice, and i stumbled across a few nice small bars in between.

Someone recommended to me doing a tour of the jewelery quarter.......all i say is DONT GO! myself and my girlfriend felt ourselves getting older by the second and thought we were in a live version of Little Britain! So we snuck out as soon as we could.

Think it was more the womans voice who was giving the tour, it was really irritating! :)
