Crashed HDD. Any hope?

Right, I'm not at home at the moment, so I don't know the exact model, but it was made by Seagate.

Anyway, it started off making a clicking sound and then it just wouldn't start up.
I tried it in an external hard drive and couldn't get anything either (yes, I had the jumper pins placed correctly).

Is there any hope of getting anything off it?
I had some rare music and movies on it and I didn't get the chance to back them up.
I also had a lot of bookmarks (never got around to adding to live bookmarks) and documents and other crap on it that I'd like to get back.
I've thought about opening it up and putting it into another casing, but, well, I can't find a screwdriver to fit it (help on that would be appreciated too). Is that a wise idea? I have lots of old HDD's lying around, so a case wouldn't be hard to find.

Well if you can't find a screwdriver to fit, you could try and drill through the screws. You might end up damaging the platters though, so keep it as a last resort.

You might even be able to twist the screws with another sized screwdriver, or a pliers, if you can get some grip on the heads.

Also there's the professional recovers services, which would be very expensive.

Ahh, bollox to the professional service.
I want to do it myself. You learn by doing.

I have a screwdriver for the screws inside (my friend once smashed a HDD open with a hammer), but just not the ones on the outside. Tried my local hardware, but he couldn't get one the right size.

When you say you can't get the right size, how do you mean? Right size, or right head?

What kinda screws are in it? Torx like this?

I'll try that with another crashed one.
