Unless you fancy a 6-8 hour bus trip get the helicopter.
    I can't recommend http://www.papillon.com/ enough.
A trip of a lifetime and with the weak dollar it's a bargain.

Friends did the flights over with the airplane and all felt airsick
on the small planes - not a problem on the helicopters.
Plus the helicopter trip gives you the chance to actually land
and walk about in the canyon for a short bit.

The views from the helicopter as you fly over Hoover dam, Lake Mead
and the canyon are great - have the cameras fully charged!

when i went to the canyon it was by car and we explored it at our own pace.

i wouldn't recommend a bus as it takes at least 6 hours and you have very little time there from what i have been told, certain not enough to hike down the canyon anyway

papillon is the name that keeps coming up as regards helicopter trips so they must be doing something right :)

is it not cheaper to book there?
The papillion tours start from the South rim heliport - I presume thats at the grand canyon not vegas?
Can anyone recommend any particular tours on papillion? Leaving from vegas?

Went with Papillion as well. Booked a Plane (to Grand Canyon Airport), Coach (to 2 viewing points) and Helicopter (30 minutes through the Canyon) tour for around $280. Would definately recommend it.

Would avoid the coach only tour unless you are constrained by budget.
