How do you speak to a UPC Customer Care Agent

I tried to ring UPC customer care on 1908 today, and the automated guy who seemed efficient give me loads of options, but would only answer them himself, in other words no option to speak to an agent, so next time I had to ask to speak to Sales, who told me it was only broadband sales and offered to transfer me, queue 30 minutes + and then she forward me back to the automated guy, asking me for my accont number, or press hash to continue, but still refused to transfer to an agent.....

ANyone know the button options to speak to a human?:p

I cant give him my account number because I have NEVER gotten a bill from them, they just take the DD!

    OMG!

    rant over

You'd nearly be better off trying telepathy. They're using the ADAM system (Another Damn Answering Machine).

Doesn't the pressing of the number 0 normally bypass all that crap?

Your best bet is to email them. They will be a while replying but at least you don't have to spend an hour waiting for them to answer the phone.

Go to your bank and get them to cancel the direct debit, worked for me!

Surely, there must be a record somewhere with your account number on it? I Know you pay by direct debit but do you not get a statement of account from UPC?

I think the hash key "#" goes direct to a human on a lot of these systems. Well, direct to another queue, probably, knowing UPC...

They are a useless shower of c***s. We opened a new account when we moved in Dec, gave them all the bank account details etc. Anyway in feb they wrote saying they had no record of DD, so we have been charged a fee of 8e because of this. My fiancee rang, giving the account info again and low and behold, same again in march. So this time I wrote a letter, got a letter of them mid April saying we were going to be disconnected and a recovery firm would be around. So nasty letter time this time and then we got a letter last week saying the reason why the DD couldnt be set up after feb was because the was an outstanding balance on out account. The balance has to be zero to have a DD set up. I told them they were free to take back our equipment and cancel our sub. I told them Sky will be getting the business now. Got a letter of them yesterday saying they will waiver all the extra charges if we just paid the outstanding amount (€75.90 in a bank) and the DD will then be set up. I wont even go on about trying to cancel my old sub in the old house that I had for 5 years. Basically they kept denying id sent letters out to them to cancel, so they charcged me another 2 months subscription!

    Snaps,

Exact same has happened to me now ...twice.

Transferred DD from single account to joint ac in early dec....lovely official letter from NTL/UPC confirming same

Got bill in Dec, Jan & Feb but didn’t even look, put them in drawer, as dealt with via DD like all the rest of my bills…then got letter saying bank had rejected DD (extra fee) and that I would also incur a late payment fee.

Got March bill with over €150 owing on it….rang up to sort out………..eventually got to talk with someone...…having tried to persuade me that DD was rejected for lack of funds (never been anything less than a couple of K in the account) accepted it was their fault…I paid whole thing by Credit card …..and was re-assured that everything was sorted out for future payments via DD.

Got April Bill, they had screwed up again… my cc payment took a day to go through so was still a negative balance on my account when the operator was trying to re-set up DD and operator had switched out of the screen before seeing this ..… turns out that an operator can’t set up ‘new’ DD if negative balance on account ….so now have got another unpaid bill and I am racking up more ‘non direct debit charges’ on very bill. Have again paid balance by CC today but this is the last time….contract ends with NTL/UPC soon and going to move straight over to Sky …. Just not worth the hassle and the waste of time on their sh*t phone system.

    Frisk

Ring 1908, press the customer services option button
then do not press anything else

Just let it repeat the message over and over for a few mins
It eventually gives up and transfers you.

I couldn't find ANY options for speaking to an agent!

Yes its a real shame we went with ntl. I was dubious as i couldnt get BB with them in the new house in Mayo. Now that quite a few of the UK channels are now FTA on Satellite as soon as my contract is up we will have satellite in all the rooms that have cable. Luckily now all the wiring is done all i need is a quad lnb and another reciever. Using a non skybox as well is dead handy as you can have your channel listings the way you want them. Thankfully as well the Irish channels are strong enough to be picked up with an aerial in the attic until fingers crossed they go FTA so you dont have to have a sky sub to view them.

UPC really want to sort themselves out, otherwise they will loose a lot of customers.

Well just got this months bill, after clearing the outstanding amount so the DD could be set up, Ive been charged another 9.99 extra fees! Great.

Did they say for what or is it a "bonus" charge just for being a customer?

You're right though, if I had any choice in TV, I'd drop UPC. They are dependant on being a monopoly which is less and less the case. If they don't improve, I don't see them lasting another 20 years.
