    Hi,

I've been going out with my GF for 5 months. We get along really well, see each other most days, work together and do a lot of things together. We're both 24.

There have been a lot of times in recent weeks were I have thought to myself, wow, if this continues to work well I would really love if she was the "one". It certainly feels like it. We're moving in together in 5-6months time (GF has bought a house but she has arranged with the current owners for a delayed sale as they are finalising the building of their own house). Anyway, she asked would I move in with her and help her towards the mortage - win win situation for both of us really.

Anyway, without babbling on too much, I really do feel that she is the one for me and I could see myself marrying her. While I wouldn't even consider proposing to her in the near futre (she'd be probably be well freaked :-) ) Maybe see how the living thing goes first.

But do you think its weird to have such a strong feeling for someone after such a short period of time?

Op everyone is different, just make an effort to keep things going the way they are. Also get your name on the deeds :)

Of course it's not weird, congrats to you.

Careful with the mortgage payments. Make sure you know exactly where you stand. Are you paying rent to her or helping her with the mortgage? If it's the latter then make sure your name goes down on the documentation and your payments clearly documented. Bear in mind that if it all turns sour that you don't want your butt kicked out on the street with a few years of mortgage repayments down the drain and your name to nothing. Sorry to be negative but you have to cover yourself.

Enjoy yourself otherwise, it's a good time of your life.

yeah i'll echo what Cathooo said, make sure that some kind of record is made that you're basically paying the mortgage with her, otherwise, you're basically splitting the price of the house with her without any ownership rights, which would be a BITCH. if you're with her a couple of years it could amount to a lot of money, and if you sort it right, you'll be entitled to a share of the money when she sells the house in years to come.

From my own point of view, I suppose I am not really ready to take the risk to buy withsome one just yet. I have seen a bad experience of this with my friend who bought a house with his GF - 6 months later they broke up and it was hell trying to sort out the mortgage and house etc... He now owns the house outright, had to pay her off but is struggling with repayments of the mortgage at mo. I dont blame the girl, neither does he, it was a civilised break up and they remain friendly but just the hell of paperwork etc... was crazy.

That experience has left me not wanting to buy anything with someone just yet with out a "trial run". She's buying anyway and I am renting somewhere at the mo so it makes sense to give her rent and live with her - she has help with the mortgage, I get rent a little bit cheaper and the real benefit we get to live together. From that point of view I am very happy with the arrangement. Thank you for the advice and concern on that issue.

Its just weird for me I have had a couple of serious relationships before and never felt this way about them at any point. One was almost 3 years and I didnt feel like this. I have met a lot of people in my life and have a lot female friends and I've never felt the way I do now for anyone in the world.

Its a little scary.. but everyday I wake up feeling on top of the world...

You're still in the "honeymoon" stage so the feelings you have now are infatuation rather than love.

It's nice that you're having such romantic feelings, but try to remind yourself that you won't really know your partner until you've been together a few years, and the strong feelings you currently have more than likely won't last forever.

    /Apologies for being realistic
