Hello there sorry if this should be in another thread using a really slow connection and takes ages to check em all out. Basically me and a friend of mine want to go to the final we both play rugby been to a good few of the games down in musgrave and thomend even went up to the RDS to watch that awful game against leinster basically genuine fans! Anyway just wondering how we'd go about going... the ticket prices on ebay are crazy and we're wondering if there are any decent package trips including tickets or if we were to buy tickets how would we go about getting to cardiff and is there any cheap place we could stay! We're both students so obviously don't have much cash.... iv had a look around on google and other sites but I don't see any good reasonably priced tours just wondering if anyone with more experience in these matters could lend a helping hand!

(sorry again if there is a designated Heineken cup thread didn't see one and maybe other pople might need some extra info :))

    Thanks in advance!

Go over and you mite get lucky and pick up some genuine fans with spare tickets there. Munster fans are great fans and would usually sell for face value to genuine fans. Ive done it before at croke park in the first ever rugby match against france there and got a ticket facew value at the ground.

Sure if you dont get a ticket there then just head to a pub full of munster supporters.

If you do this then go over but dont get pissed off if you dont get a ticket and still enjoy the atmosphere.

    you could try www.munsterfans.com

If I were you I would post on munster fans and ask

or else you will just have to use ebay, they are defo gona be cheaper than a tout outside I reckon.

    Also try www.buyandsell.ie

There were plenty tickets available outside the millenium stadium for face value in 06. Get foot passage on the Dun Laoghaire - Holyhead ferry (Rosslare - Fishguard is sold out I think) and get the train/hitchhike to Cardiff. If you bring a tent, there's camping in a rugby ground about 1 mile from the MS.

Can't get much cheaper than that.

get a cheap flight to liverpool, manchester, bristol or London, the get a national express coach up to Cardiff. Trains will be pricey. Flights to somewhere out of the way will be cheaper than flights nearby.

Time consuming, but if yer on a budget that's life !

you won't get a cheap flight to bristol, its over €450 return with ryanair per person. We're getting the ferry to holyhead and driving down, staying with relatives too which saves a good bit of money.

I fell tho OP's pain!!!! So frickin expensive to get there, all ferries close by are sold out, thinking of just hunkering down in the local rugby club here, there'll be a great atmosphere anywhere as long as there are people who enjoy momentous sporting events........Munster V Toulouse, it's gonna be EPIC!!!!

I went in '06 (in between exams...ooops:p), flew to Liverpool, train down to Cardiff, wasn't too bad cos we had free acomm in Liverpool, and there were so many tickets being sold by genuine fans at face value.....it renewed my faith in humanity:D

Its amazing the amount of 'real Munster fans' who only start this process after they get to the final...

If I were a skeptic I would talk about jumping on bandwagons - but lets not do that. Thats bold :D

U wont get a cheap flight to many places now at this stage.....300 would be reasonable I'd say. And u wont get accommodation now either.

Now now, perhaps some of us Munster fans just wanted to be nice and leave some accomodation and tickets for fans of other teams in case we didn't qualify for the final :) (Not that we believed for a second we wouldn't ;) )

For the cost involved at this stage, you'd be better off staying down in Limerick and having the craic.

Tickets/Flights/Accommodation are all at ridiculous rates, see there are plenty of rich Munster fans who are willing to pay scalp rates.

(next year you could join their supporters club, or apply independently for a HC final ticket, or get involved with your local club.)

Maybe they have a separate HC Supporters club? aka 'The Real Genuine Munster Supporters Club", which gets a maximum of 9 games a year. ;)

lol wonder how many real united fans booked tickets to Moscow! And from what iv seen so far it would prob be easier to get to Moscow!

Started looking at options a month before (the actual date of the final ;)) can't believe how much its gonna cost tho! No luck from home club had to leave them once I went to college and joined my college team (in leinster) so the coach isn't gonna call in any favours! used to be a member of the junior supporters club but never renewed or got any info bout the main one......... looks like going to limerick might be my best option! Its that or Holyhead and walk to Cardiff! Thanks for all the suggestions

I am getting a bus, €120, out Friday evening sailing, returning Monday 02.30 sailing.

PM if you want details of the company.

Still working on getting a ticket but as someone else said there were plenty available in 06 outside the stadium, myself and the four guys I was with all managed to get tickets (all in completely different parts of the stadium) so thats not a bad last resort!

Flights into London are still under 100 euro for the weekend. nationalexpress.co.uk bus to Cardiff is 15 pounds return, plus it pulls out of Cardiff at 6am Sunday morning so there's no need to find somewhere to stay, just keep drinking until then!!

Again if you're going with the Car rental, there are a few hotels available around Bristol (i.e. within 30 km) via those booking web sites... Shop around, I was quoted £120 for the "Days Inn" in Dursley for 2 adults and a kid for 2 nights, then looked at a different site, and got same stay for £100...

About an hours' drive away from Cardiff, according to Google Earth.

Now... What's the story with parking near the stadium?

I think if you apply now, you get the option to buy tickets, book flights and accomodation for the 2015 HC final... In Thomond Park!

Guys, he's a fan who want's to go to a match, some of you lot are slagging him off that he didn't buy his ticket in 1984...? Pack it in FFS.

OP, if all else fails, try around Wexford/Kilmore Quay/Dunmore East etc to charter a fishing boat (Offshore 105 etc. for a group, they can legally take around 12 and would cost a lot less than the airlines. Just an idea.

Get to Cardiff, a ticket would be a bonus.

    Cheers

Theres actually a multi-storey car park right across the road from the main entrance to the stadium. We parked there for the 2006 final. Just get there early enough to get in cuz they close up the car park sometime before the game and the it gets opened again after the match. We had no problems with it. Was really handy

Replied with this message in other thread

In 06 I got the Eurolines bus from Dublin. Met up with Tralee bus in Rosslare. www.eurolines.ie

Very long trip but a bit of craic. One thing though, you arrive at Cardiff Gate. This involved a taxi into Cardiff city as its a few miles out. Ferry trip was unbelievable craic as they played Munster semi on a big screen.

Also no need for accommodation as you arrive so late Fri night (after 3.30 Sat morning). We just caught the rest of our sleep in the train station :).
