Changed OS and Warranty Is it an issue?

I have a HP dv6000 series laptop. It came with vista and says it was designed for vista. I changed to XP as Vista was very slow on it. All was well until recently when my wireless stopped working (its a known issue) so I have to send it off for repair. Does changing the OS affect the warranty? Should I change it back to vista before I send it off?

    Thanks

The issue is with hardware, so i seriously doubt it'd be a problem.

As Alan said, it should be fine if its a hardware issue but your 100% sure its not related to drivers or an issue with xp? SHouldn't make much of a difference really, I imagine the tech's won't even notice whether its xp or vista, they'll probably whip out the wireless card, replace it boot the machine up and test it and thats about all.

Hi I deal with warranty issues alot in my own job, If its a hardware problem you are ok, If its gone to a HP service centre you'll probably be ok, they get a high volume so its a case of get them in get them out

    I dont know about that.

I have a dv6500 (same series) when I considered putting XP on it they advised me it WOULD affect the warranty to do so.

Get on 24/7 chat support and ask them. Dont tell them youve already done it; just that youre thinking about it. The reason I was given for a No is because they dont actually issue XP-compatible drivers for all of the hardware in my machine.

They won't support any os related issues because that isn't the os you bought from them. They should still support the hard ware.
