Just playing around with the macro settings on my camera over the weekend and took this shot of my dog's eye. Only a crop and slight colour change done in Photoshop, no other editing.

I wanted to capture his eye with what he was looking at inside it but managed to capture me and the camera too. Hard to get him from another angle as he was always moving his head and I cannot manually speed up the shutter speed (Panasonic Lumiz TZ1 compact). On an afterthought I like how the colouring of his eye reminds me of flames..

Any thoughts on how to do this type of shot better in the future?

Another eye shot I took the same day.. I wanted to add a little bit of context and DOF to this shot, but am wondering should I have cropped tighter (with more of the photo out to the left) or included the other eye?

I would like to go back to these later and take some more similar shots, so any C&C is appreciated!

    Thanks!

No. 1 is fantastic. Well done. Beautiful animal. You can see from your photo he's well cared for. Take another bow.:)

Thank you. I think the dog's food per month costs more than mine :D He is slighty spoilt :p

I'm not mad on having your reflection in his eye.

The lower portion of the eye looks like a pint of guinness

I really like the 1st one. Looks like your dog has a beautiful eye. But personally I'd like it exactly the same without your reflection (impossible I know) but I like the reflection of the sky but just not you :D Or from another angle with no replection from anything if possible.

    Good work though

    Thanks for the reply guys.

For those who would prefer the first without my reflection, I am also one of you :D I am now toying with editing out my reflection and putting in something else in Photoshop. Though I use Photoshop to say clone out a minor distraction or fix some small parts of photos, I wouldn't normally use it to alter a photo a lot. I'm not sure if it would ruin the photo but shall have a go. :pac:

I will definitely be coming back to this later and trying to get a better reflection or no reflection.

Thanks :o I shall post up a new thread with some photos of him, though there's a thread with dogs in it which has his photos in it that I had started here ages ago. Not sure where it is though :D
