    Folks,

I bought some of the Ecover dishwasher tablets this week. I am on a private septic tank and I am assuming these tablets will be less damaging to the bacteria in the tank, allowing them to do their job.

Has anyone any thoughts or experience on their cleaning products? We are trying to use baking soda and lemon juice more, but I just wondered about Ecovers range.

I have been using these products for years. I have a pureflow following on from the septic and there doees not appear to be any bad effects on the plants surrounding the percolation area. Why are you concerned about the bacteria in the septic? the septic is designed to be emptied regularly and not as a long time composter

I know it has to be emptied. I just want to reduce the number of harmful chemicals I send to it.

I have a bio septic tank and im very consious of all the chemicals in household cleaners. I use Ecover washing powder. I tried their washing up liquid, did'nt find it that good at removing greece. Washing soda crystals down the drains once a month will prevent build up. Along with the baking soda, white vinegar is also very good for cleaning around the house.

Personally I prefer Lily Ecoluv - as is an Irish company too, is more friendly. At the moment is mostly available from health food stores. Down to Earth is a good one in Dublin City, as they have the full range. I particularly like their degreaser
