    Hey all,

Just a quick question about WLAN and using it to access Wi-Fi Hotspots...

I bought my new N95 8GB yesterday and want to be able to set up and use WLAN to access Wi-Fi hot spots around Dublin, but am terrified that I'll get landed with a bill beyond my annual income from O2 due to Kb usage!!

So there in is my question, is using WLAN network dependent in that can O2 charge me for downloading/browsing at a Wi-FI Spot, or is it totally independent from my phone provider?

    Hope this makes sense!

    Thanks,
    Will

When you use wlan you are not using O2's data network, you are using the data network of whoever is providing the hotspot so you will NOT incurr any charges from O2 for doing so. Just be sure it is the WLAN connection you are using. Most apps can be set up to use it by default or ask each time they start up.

bluefrog is correct. also a handy tip: when you are using the web on the phone the acess point you're using will flash briefly on the top of the screen e.g. if you're connecting through o2 your signal barr might flash and change to 3g or 3.5 g. if you're using wlan the wlan logo will flash on the right over near the battery.
