Open source meebo clones?

    Hey all,

    The title says it all really. Are there any multi-protocol IM web clients that I could download, tweak and host on my own site?

    I've done a little searching ("instant messenger web client") and got www.ajaxim.org but it appears to be just for communication with other ajaxim clients, rather than others.

    I can also find plenty of xmpp (Jabber) web clients of varying maturity, but nothing multi-protocol yet.

    So can any of ye recommend any downloadable multi-protocol IM web clients/interfaces?

    If you use an XMPP client, you can connect to an XMPP server with gateways to other networks. That means that using Jabber, you can connect to MSN, Yahoo, AIM and any other protocol the server supports.

    there is another open source client called koepte, im not sure if there is a Windows client but if your using Linux your on the pigs back.

    Well, the problem is, I need something that doesn't rely on connections made on the client side.

    A good example is gtalk - if I go to my gmail account, I make a http connection to the gmail page, and then the gtalk does its thing by connecting to the jabber server. Similarly, I only need to make a connection to meebo over http, and it connects to the various servers.

    The advantage to this is the fact that if I'm behind a firewall, I can then connect out via that site. What I really want is to replicate that functionality, but to have it on a server I can bloody well trust.

    So far, aidan_walsh's solution looks the best (xmpp->msn/aim/yahoo gateways and then appropriate xmpp clients), although I have vague doubts if it will separate things as much as I want them to be, without going into weird non-intuitive setups for the people I'm setting it up for. But we'll see once I have time to look at it.
