Well im taking up a hobbie and have decided on golf, The problem is I dont know much about what I need and what clubs ill need or what brand to get. Ive played on and off for a few years but would like to buy a set of clubs. Something middle of the road or better.

    Any advise would be great.

    Cheers

    Hi,

You could buy a cheap set of clubs like Dunlops or whatever, or go for something a bit more expensive.

I find that ebay.com (the us version) is a good place to buy quality golf gear for cheaper - I got a set of almost new ping rapture clubs there for about 500 euro including delivery - half the price of ireland. I also bought a really good driver and putter there for really cheap.

Good advice but ..this man is new to the game an probably dosnt know the different types of clubs...suggest go to a good golf shop..have a look on whats on offer...then decide if the E-bay route is best..Mcguirks is a good shop and staff are helpfull - Blanch/Howth/Leopardstown.

I think a good starter set or an experienced golf shop sales person to help you choose a decent second hand set.

Once you get into the game I would seriously consider having a custom fit - you are not tied to the fitter's endorsed maker but at least you will know what lie and length suits you when you decide to invest in a new set.

Whatever happens, best of luck - before you know it you'll be the latest golf addict!
