Anyone taken the vw tiguan for a spin or even bought one? The engine is under the dreaded 191 co2 thing. I think its the basically the same engine thats in the 2.0 passat, and thats smooth. Very tempted. my chorkee's tax is biting deep not to mention the running repairs

Is the Tiguan really an 'off roader'? I think not.

Nice looking jeep, alternative to the Qashqai. Haven't seen ONE on the roads yet, which is odd. I can't imagine people are waiting till after July to get higher tax. Am i right in sayin those 1.4 and turbocharged, if i am, i'd wait a bit to see how reliability fairs out.

there have 2 engines 1.4 turbo and a 2.0 crd, i have no time for the nissans (had a long wheel base terrano for acouple of years, as nimble as a battleship with the same fuel economy:D an op was saying that it was more efficient than pajero, the mitsubishis must be very bad fuel wise, I never had a mitsub 4x4 so cant comment.

Mitsubishi pajeros are more thirsty especially the sport, which is a pity because its a much better machine than my current terrano. Steering on the terrano is a hell of a lot better, so is economy and power and because of the reasonable ceiling height my passengers dont keep leaving brain matter on the top of the door like they did in the pajero, I swear youd need to be 3 ft tall to fit properly into it.

I saw a Tiguan from behind the other day and didn't really like it, looked kind of small and boxy, like a Qashqai but smaller.

I can vouch for that, I get 24mpg from my 2.8 manual SWB - and the autos are far worse!

Had a drive of a tiguan 2.0 diesal on the N11 and I was very impressed. Compared to the Freelander that I have, it is light years ahead and I would not expect to see the litany of costs/problems that I have had with the freelander.

One interesting thing tho is that it has an electronic handbrake which may cause problems for some on a hillstart.

I presume it has hill start assist.

    Have u seen/driven the Freelander 2?

Of course I have seen the Freelander2 and I know it's way better because it is build on a Ford chassis by Ford in Halewood. It's all the other Landrover parts that are in it that worry me.

After having spent over €8000 on repairs I sold the Freelander when I heard it would need a new engine cost €5000.

I think what I wrote was fair comment plus I simply would never deal with Land Rover again.
