This has to be one of the coolest scenes ever in Lost. Superb dialogue and acting from both characters. Did anyone notice both characters faces were half in light (white/good) and half in the shade (black/evil). It's seems like the writers want us to think that there might be good and evil in both characters.
Ben: When did you start sleeping with a bottle of scotch by the bed?

    Widmore: When the nightmares started.

What did Widmore mean by nightmares?
Widmore: I know who you are boy, what you are.

What you are? What did he mean by that?
Widmore: That island's mine Benjamin. It always was. It will be again. (cue creepy music score)

    Ben: But you'll never it.

Widmore: Then I suppose the hunt is on for both of us.

Ben: I suppose it is. Sleep tight Charles.

Widmore was able to find it before, so why not again? What did Widmore mean when he said Ben would never find Penny? Where is she supposed to be that's so inaccessible to Ben?

On a boat wandering around the island?
    Right under his nose.

Yeah, we've seen it several times before:

    - Widmore told Des about how special/expensive it was during Des' job interview in FBYE.
    - Anthony Cooper poured a glass of it right before pushing Locke out a window
    - Charlie and Hurley discovered a bottle of it in the wreckage which they shared with Des, also in FBYE.

It would appear to be a hint of some connection between Widmore and Cooper but it may just be coincidence.

Anyway I really liked the Widmore/Ben scene in 4x09, brought clarity to the whole Freighter plot-line. The writers apparently modeled the scene on the Pacino/De Niro coffee shop scene in Heat.

nightmares probably started after widmore ordered the death of so many people on the island?

Doubt penny is near the island as ben seems to be able to find it (although him waking up in the Sahara might mean something) Could she and Desmond be hiding together?

It was a good scene alright. The stage has been set for season 5. Battle of the tycoons.

Accoring to the island folk, what was the exact date of their crash? and how long have they been on the island?

    September 21st 2004.

And it's probably coming up on New Year's now (considering Des had a chat with Penny on Christmas Eve).

The crash was on September 22 and it's around December 27 now. So they've been on the island almost a 100 days.

I wouldn't be completely sure he can travel through time. Sayid's flashforward could've been ages from now. The only flashforward we have a decent time frame on is Sun's (
because of the baby being born
    ). Sayid's, Hurley's, Jack's, Kate's etc could be in 2006 for all we know.

possibly, although widmore didn't feel guilty about killing ben's daughter, in fact he blamed it on ben....

when i first heard widmore mention the nightmares i thought he might have been referring to possible side effects of being on the island at some time or if he was time travelling or teleporting like ben might be doing. or maybe the island is somehow punishing widmore with the nightmares....

I assume the nightmares are because he spent so long living with Helen Daniels

Is there any chance Widmore and Ben are related? I know Ben seemed slightly unsure of Penelope's name but I just had that blood relationship feeling from the way they were speaking.
