    Hi,

    Could someone explain to me what Rockbox is...how I would get it...and what are the benefits of it?

    I've just bought another Iaudio x5 off ebay (my previous x5 broke a while back). I've been reading a few threads and people have mentioned rockboxing their iaudio.

    Can anyone explain pretty please...for a very very slight techno-phobe :)

    Rockbox is an alternative firmware for your MP3 player.
    It replaces the standard software that comes preloaded on
    your player that lets you play MP3 and all the other functions.

    Replacing your original firmware with Rockbox is similar to buying a
    Windows PC and putting a different operating system on it.

    Why would you want to do this you may ask?
    Well Rockbox is developed by a group of enthusiasts for free and they
    try and improve on the features of the original firmware.
    On the early I-rivers, they offered playlists, gapless playback
    and faster boot time to name a few features.
