what is the cheapest option combining both or buying a stand alone sat nav

the best satnav for mobile regards coverage is route66

i have used tom tom mobile, navigator 6, garmin mobile, and a few others,

nokia maps comes close but still not as good as you have to subscribe to their service (unless you have a package with them for free gprs)

route66 hasn't failed me yet.

for those that have it, here's a hint..
to back up favourites and settings copy prefs.ini (in the route66 main folder)to either somewhere else on the memory card or computer, so if route66 fails to load overwrite the prefs.ini with the file you have stored somewhere else, and it should work fine

That Route66 product is just maps, you can get the maps free from Nokia for a Symbian phone, you then just need to buy a Bluetooth GPS receiver.

Expansys have a Navman B10 receiver for Eur 41 excl. carriage.
