I got a haircut at the weekend, look scrap and I hate it. Anyway she left my fringe way to long and I need to cut it. Now I don’t want to pay the hairdresser to get a quick snip on the fringe, is it easy enough to cut it or is there a technique for cutting a fringe?? I just want to take an inch or so off it!

    Thanks

Go back and tell her its too long, good professional conduct should stop her charging you if you are unhappy... fringes can be really tricky... if your hair has a bit of a small cows lick, it will go very wrong...

looks like ill have to go pay, theres no way im going back to that hairdresser, i made it known to her that i hated the cut.

Its so tempting to just snip a little bit off!!

i do it all the time! just do it when you hair is dry tho, thats the trick i use. otherwise you might take off more than is needed, better if you can see how your hair lies when it is styled/dried etc

Have a look on youtube for some tutorials to help you. Make sure you use a sharp scissors :)

Go back to any Salon, wont cost ya anymore than 5euros for your fringe to be trimmed.. whats a fiver in comparison to a boogie fringe for the next 4 or 5 weeks...

God I remember the awful cuts my mother used to do to my fringe when I was a young girl, would never ever risk trying it myself no matter how steady my hands wore. My best mate is fully qualified and she wouldn't even attempt to cut her own fringe...

I had a side fringe for years and I was never happy with the way hairdressers used to cut it so I used to just tell them I was leaving it grow and then cut it myself when I got home!

Just do it when your hair is dry and cut it a little longer than you actually want it to sit because you'll probably need to even it up a bit.

I went back to mine when something similar happened...She didn't mind in the slightest and no extra charge ... Wondered did you go back into them or do a DIY job ?
(don't think i'd cut my own hair, a friend done hers before and never cut it straight and kept cutting to try and level it out, disaster! )

Haven't read the whole thread so maybe it's been said before but..

I find when cutting my fringe that it's better to point the scissors towards the ceiling and take little wisps from it rather than cutting 'straight across' - unless you want a blunt fringe.
