Took in two games at the weekend. Used the 1.4 extender. I think I am going to stop using it as it takes the sharpness off the images.

To be honest I'd cut the amount for C&C to about 3 images where it would be easier to look at and comment on them.

I wouldn't worry about the sharpness at all. This can be very easily sorted with proper sharpening technique in Photoshop.

As far as the photographs go they all capture the action and intensity of the game very well. The background is, however, very distracting. There is very little you can do unless you shoot with more distance between the players and the background. I'm presuming that with the 1.4 converter that the aperture is around f8. This is far too small to isolate the players and blur the background. You need around f2.8 or f3.5 for that.

Excellent timing though and in a large stadium like Croke Park they would be excellent.

Shot using f4. Think I will leave the extender off and shoot at f2.8.

Some really nice action shots there.

F/2.8 will give you some nice bokeh, from the f/4.

The images don't look that unsharp at all.
