Without googling/ wiki, can anyone name the last player from an English club outside the top division to be included in an England squad for a major tournament finals.

I think he was in the Euro 2000 squad, not sure if Ipswich got relegated from or promotion to the Premier in the 99/2000 season. You could be right.

Ipswich were promoted at the end of the 1999/2000 season.

    Either side could be argued...

    Andy johnson

He was in squads alright while with Crystal Palace in Div 1 - but not any major tournament finals squad, I dont think?

Johnson definitely wasn't in any finals squad while in the first. david Nugent was the last player to play for England outside the top division

Technically he would be considered a Premiership player until the start of the next campaign.

Richard Wright is the correct answer.

Dave Nugent was a championship player, banged one in kinda. but wasnt in a tournament.

Theo Walcott could be argued too, since he hadnt made his top flight debut, he was playing in a reserve league, WC06.

Sorry, just saw Dodge's reply now!
