    Hey guys

I know this might be way to early to ask but what you guys think might be the better between New Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 or Sigma 10-20mm F4?

I would assume Tokina with the F2.8 would be great, but i dont have any experience with Tokina, and i don't know if i should wait and see more tests or just buy the Sigma :)

    The Sigma isnt an f/4. It's f/4-5.6.

Can't speak for the 11-16 2.8, but the 12-24 f/4 is very nice. It's also much bigger and heavier than the Sigma. I would presume the 2.8 is bigger again.

I have the sigma 10-20mm lens for my D200 & D300, and also have used a friends tokina 12-24mm lens a few times.

I would prefer the sharpness and lower chromatic abberation of the Sigma, as well as the 2mm wider angle, compared to the nominal 0.5 f-stop speed advantage of the tokina. J

ust my opinion, but i shoot with this at f8-f11 most of the time anyway so the speed isn't much use for me.

I think the sigma also has better flare / ghosting characteristics if you are worried about that kinda of thing.

Sorry , forgot to mention but if i was buying a wide angle again in the morning i would go for the new Sigma 10mm f2.8 lens - http://www.sigmaphoto.com/lenses/lenses_all_details.asp?id=3337&navigator=6

be aware that the 10mm 2.8 from sigma is a fisheye, not everybody's cup of tea

    I have a tokina 12-24mm and I love it
the only hands on review I've seen (Ken) about the new one says it's even better than nikon's 12-24mm (which was the best of its class up to now)

Yeah i also so that review, and made me think...

I checked and you can get in Japan for more a less 100€ more then the sigma...

Its true i might not use the F2.8 very often but its great to have it...

Here's a review and some good sample images of the sigma 10mm f2.8 here - link

don't forget you can always use photoshop to de-fishy-eye-ify the images ;-)

It's a diagonal fisheye, not a circular fisheye, a common misconception, so it doesn't give you a circular field of view or anything like that. It's also a macro as it an focus up to 1.8cm away from the lens front element.

That lens looks pretty sweet. I'm trading up to a 5D soon and one of the big reasons is cause I missed using my sigma 15mm fisheye. Had it for my Minolta film slr and then bought it for my 300D but the 1.6x factor made it useless. Still kept both of them.

I got the Tokina today and it seems very good. Only starting out, so I'll probably miss most of stuff which all the camera heads:D on here will spot.

Definition seems very crisp and construction is excellent. Nice feel when you're using it. While I'm on, what's the general concensus when using it - MF or AF? (There's a very neat AF/MF switching ring on it).

This is a page with some samples (obviously not taken by yours truly:o).
