confirmed address means that Paypal cherges your card $1.50 and quotes a number on your bill. When you get that number, go back into Paypal and enter it and that's their way of verifying that it is you that's setup the account and not someone who robbed your card...

Is it ebay that is not accepting a non-US address or are you having problems once your through to paypal itself?

If its on the ebay.com site then just log out of ebay and then relogin to ebay.co.uk or ebay.ie and then you should be able to pay for your items without needing to enter a zip code. Their multiple country domains don't alway seem to play nicely together so you just have to make sure you are using your local one once you reach the payment pages as the US site is a bit stupid now since they made some "upgrades" recently.

You can confirm your address on paypal, they will charge you €1.50. When you get your credit card bill theres a code beside this €1.50, use this to confirm your address.

If you have no time for this, send kea photo (Albert) an email and he'll ask you for proof of address, something like a scanned driving license or telephone bill.

I can't understand how buying things on play.com, amazon, book depository .. etc is so simple and ebay is so complicated, paypal is saying i have reached some limit, which is ****ing bull**** cos i never once paid for anything on it ..
now i know why there is such sweet deals on kea photo .. cos you can't ****ing buy the stuff!!!

Oh yeah, forgot about that process. That will be what your problem is, you do get your $1.50 back credited back to your paypal account afterwards though.

I could have sworn that all the $1.50 process did was verify your account, not confirm your address.

I know I went through the process and now my account is verified, but my address is still unconfirmed.

Are you angry with Paypal, or just angry with yourself for not reading up on the Paypal verification process before you tried to spend...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

Paypal has a verification process where they will charge your CREDIT CARD 1.50 $ then refund you when you verify it, you need to check youre statment for the number that appears with their charge. Make sure youre set up online for your CC and wait 2-3 days min.

This way if youre paypal gets stolen no one can go on spending sprees, stealing over 1k. Its concrete.

The Nº from PayPayl appears on the next statement after you had first registered your card with them. If you can't find the statement or the Nº give your card provider a call; they should be able to get the Nº for you.

At the risk of making you angrier, the f/2.8 L IS is 70-200, not 300.

Now maybe you already know that and it was just a typo on your part above. If not though, your reach is going to be less than you thought.

there is another way to buy stuff from some of the Hong Kong sellers thats by International Bank Account Number (IBAN) and Bank Identifier Code (BIC) with Kea you can pay to their Isle of Man account in Euros so theres not even a charge.

    :)

oh! and calm down you'll rupture something!! :p

I have never had to do that verification step with my credit card. My address was registered with them and I have been fine since then. I always use ebay.co.uk. Maybe it has something to do with ebay.com!

I believe it has to do with the amount of the item being paid for. If you always stick below this ($150??) you will never need to have your card verified, but if you want to pay for something more expensive than that you will need to do so.

Yup your right Trooney, I had bought many thing online with paypal that were less than $2/300, when I bought my 30D I had to get my account verified, it only took a day and (technically) costs nothing.

There you go, even after all your moaning and complaining. Kea are brilliant and totally reliable. That's why they wanted a verified credit card and other such things. It's all about security, for you and for them.

Yeah... I'll agree with you there. I've bought lots of gear off Albert in Kea Photo and have to say the service is top notch. Would definitely recommend him to anyone considering purchasing camera gear!
