Budget Bass amps.... Recommendations?

Anyone have any recommendations on a decent budget bass amp.

Looking to get a 50W or so practice amp for my studio. Really dont want to spend more than 200 Euro or so (not really willing to go much higher), but dont mind it being second hand.
Built-in effects are not that important (as I can send it through my rack unit for processing), just looking for something that sounds decent mic'd up.

    Any recommendations?

I've never tried them but you could go with a Fame amp. Musicstore's own brand.

    30 watt combo
    - €80

    80 watt combo - €125

    125 watt combo - €200

Actually just reread your post and seems like you're looking for a nice tone to record with. Never heard these things either but pretty much everybody here will recommend them.

I'm kinda looking for a dual purpose amp to be honest.. Decent sound for recording (doesnt have to be fantastic) but also loud enough to compete with a drum kit and guitar amp.

Have heard great things about the MicroCube but unfortunately it's way underpowered at 2.5W for the jamming side of things :(

I'll check out the Fame and see if i can find any reviews.. Thanks..

Behringer offers serious bang for the buck in the under-1000 price range.

    I own a 120w practice amp, a 450w half-stack, and a 10-channel mixer, none of which I've ever had any problems with.

People will mention Ashdown, but they'll always preface it with "..if you could just spend a little more..." :)

The Laney "Richter" series are quite good IMO. I use one as a practice amp. More info below.

OK thanks.. I will definately check out the Laney.

Has anyone used the Ashdown Perfect 10 Minirig? 65 watt stack with 2x10" speaker cabs.. sounds very interesting

dunno bout 2x10" speakers tbh but most of the reviews on Harmony central ( http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Bass+Amp/product/Ashdown/Perfect+Ten+Combo/10/1 ) are fairly complimentary. the smaller laney i linked above only has a 1x12" so i dont know how much better that'd be...if you want to annoy the neighbours i'd have to say get a 15" minimum but if you are looking to record with it, dont just go for a big cheap ass yoke.

I had a Laney 1x12", the old version of the Richters, it was sh*te tbh. Unfortunately I paid a fair bit for it cos I bought it in town back before internet prices made the shops rethink their pricing. I wouldn't recommend it if it's going to cost you more than any other cheap amp.
