I hope this is not breaking the rules.

I was asked to put together a website (in its early stages) for recycling and saving the planet type stuff.

    Its www.stickinit2theman.com
The idea being that by going green and saving money at the same time, you can stick it to the man (corporations, oil companies etc) and save the planet.

So if anyone has any good tips, please sign up and post on the forum or even recommend any categories etc i can put in.

This is aimed at the US market by the way, so any European influence we can give to the largest polluting country in the world the better.

I only started it over the weekend so there is not much content yet. It is a community site so most content gets added by users.

China is now the worst polluter in the world not the US.

An onshore/near-shore wind farm in Norway's Smøla islands is reported to have destroyed a colony of sea eagles, according to the British Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. - Can man live without guilt that the renewable energy they use is damaging to other species.

Using green fuels is helping to push up the price of food worldwide.

To believe that by going green will help save the planet is a misguided concept. To save the planet you have to plant more natural forests, re-introduce wildlife into countries where they have become extinct. Stop depending on a globalised market and learn to live on the resources available with in your small community. To save the planet, respect nature is not possible in today's environment.

Good comments, i especially agree with living off resources from your own community. I assume you mean its better to buy local than imported. It might cost a little more but the impact of importing food from other countries and the carbon emissions produced by that leaves the euro or two saving tainted.

Feel free to join up skadi and post your opinions.

i think the all encompassing piece of advice i give to people is stop spending your money on stuff you don't want. for example, my arch nemisis is pennys. the clothes are so cheap, but i wonder how they're so cheap. you buy a top and it's warped, discoloured or torn within a month. people come out with bags full of clothes and accessories - do they use them or throw them in the bin? if they didn't go on mini shopping sprees they could buy a good quality item that'd last for years. i don't consider this being tight with money, just smarter than the average bear. of course this philosophy transends to switching off light bulbs, blah blah blah
