Staying in Cardiff

    Well we got there!

Was just wondering what people are doing for accomodation in Cardiff. The last couple of times, we have headed for the ferry straight after the match. But this year we're planning on hanging around until Sunday.

Now rooms are harder to get than tickets in Cardiff, so I was wondering what to do. I've heard Bristol is good craic. Any other suggestions? Whats Newport like? Or is there somewhere near Cardiff that I've overlooked....

Why oh why oh why do the muppets keep holding big events with an international travelling audience like the Heineken Cup in Cardiff?

I mean, nice stadium but what a dump of a city. The next founder of a monotheist religion to be born in a stable, or garage lock up will be the son of somebody attending a match in Cardiff who couldn't find any room at the inn. That;'s because there are no bloody inns. The town is too small to cope.

Build some hotels, for God's sake!!!

I was at the last final there [best sporting event I was at in my life, and I have been lucky enough to see some cool **** in my day!], as part of the leinster people who had tickets and got let down (*mutter*)

Most folks just drank all night tbh - the craic was 91, as a wise man once said :)

I paid 300 quid sterling for a room, also look on ebay for folks from other clubs selling reservations - used that for other games there before :) [You just check in as 'p smith' with millions of people all over the shop there, they NEVER check]

Don't stay in Bristol. The last train leaves Cardiff at 22.00hrs for Bristol and that will be booked within the next few days.

The problem is that accommodation has been booked up in South Wales for over a month. Right now you are looking at a journey of about 20 - 30 Miles to find a bed.

Check out my thread on Accommodation in Cardiff.

I maybe able to help if you are prepared to rough it in a tent.

This might be optimistic thinking... but would they by any chance schedule another one, d'ya reckon?

Anyone know if a taxi would take us? What kind of fare are you looking at?

We booked a mini bus in 06 to collect us at 3am in Cardiff and bring us back to Bristol. By 12 o'clock that night most of us were shattered after a very eary start that morning a lots of booze during the day. It was the longest 3 hours of my life waiting for that bloody bus. Cardiff is a nightmare of a town to hold bid events like this....great stadium but no hotels and a mickey mouse airport:mad:

I am getting a bus via Dublin Holihead to the final, I think we are staying somewhere off the M5 near Birmingham or something.

Could try this hotel http://www.threesaintshotel.co.uk/ for some reason have found it not booked up for other events at Cardiff.
Llantrisant is about 10miles or so from Cardiff so a cab would be around the £20-£30 I would imagine.

Newport is a hell hole, Bristol is Ok but Cardiff is better place to go out after games in the city
