can anybody tell me if , on the new shape ford galaxy ghia , the automatic headlights and auto rain sensing wipers are just gimmicks which will give hassle down the road ? And also can they be over-ridden and just operated manually ?

Don't know about the Galaxy but I have them in my 05 Focus and they are handy. Haven't had any issues with them yet and you can switch both off if you want.
