Selective B&W conversion

    HI maybe someone can help.

I wan do the usual selctive B&W conversion of baby photo but maintaining color in the eyes.

I tried using an adjustment layer using a raw file converted from bibble and then photoshop elements.

However, the color photo has a slight color cast in the whites of the eyes and just wondering whats the best way to do this.

Also, the B&W converter in Bibble is quite good. So is there a way to convert to B&W in bibble and correct color cast in a separate copy of the color photo then merge the 2 selectively. Can this be done in elements?

    Thanks if anyone can help!

This sounds fiddly. I use Picasa for these sort of manipulations, but you might find some help in this Flickr grouphttp://www.flickr.com/groups/colourisation/discuss/

It sounds like you have the right idea. What I would do is convert the raw files into two shots, one B&w and the other with the right colour eyes. Have the coloured version over lapping the b&w, select the eyes on your top layer and then delete anything else. So you will then be left with two layers. One on top with just the coloured eyes and then the bottom layer with the whole shot in b&w. If you want to pm me and I can do this for you.

I haven't used elements so I can't say if you can do it in that :)

play about with the eyes until you get the colours you want, duplicate layer, convert top layer to b&w however you choose to do that then use layer mask to 'bring back' the layer underneath.
