Nokia e51 email

I'm using the standard email on the Nokia e51. I use it to check via POP3.

My problem is that it only allows you to have 2 accounts set to auto-retrieve.

So, I'm then looking for alternatives. I see another option

    Menu > Messaging > Options > Settings > E-mail > my@domain.com > Options > edit > Automatric retrieval > E-mail notifications > What does this do??.

not sure if this would work, but you can have all your mail delivered into a gmail account and then check that via pop3 on the phone...

Sending from the different accounts might be a bit complicated however.

@strecker - thanks for the offer mate, but I'm grand for now.

@Gekko - thanks for the suggestion but I'm really trying to find out what the "E-mail notifications" feature does more than anything else.

Has anyone discovered what the only in home network option does in the email retrieval settings do?
Seems a bit pointless to me. I cannot set my home WLAN to "home network status" so basically I have two option doing the same thing (only in home network and always use access point "x")
If I set it up with my WLAN as the access point to recieve emails when at home, i have to then go into settings and change the access point to meteor isp just to check the emails on the move. :(

Has anyone found a way to make the phone auto retrieve email via imap when connected to certain WLAN but at give the option to connect manually to a network access point when away from home?

P.S. Nokia in their wisdom seems to have got rid of access point grouping on the E51

Home Network refers to the network your SIM card is on. Prevents you building up massive data charges while roaming. This is my understanding of it anyway.

I have been on to Vodafone 4 times today as my vodafone mail isnt working (gmail being forwarded to Vodafone mail). Its a new nokia E51. I'm getting "packed data connection not available". I got 3 explanations that they just needed to set me up so if I powered down and restarted the phone it would be fine. On the fourth call I told them that this didnt work the just said "Oh there is a general problem with the access points for vodafone mail". Grrrr

Not sure if this is what you mean but there's an option where you can choose APN.

Menu - Messaging - Options - Settings - email - me@mydomain.com - Connection Settings - Incoming email - Access point in use - Pick what you want from here

Na what i meant was have it set up so that it will use WLAN when available to check mail at a fixed interval (effectively push email when set to 5mins) but have manual checking when using the mobile networks access point.

All without having to go to settings and change the AP each time.

use IMAP if that's an option - handset auto check while connected and notifies of new mail regularly (only transferring header info - so it's light data unless you want to take down the actual email)

I'm aware of that.. but still, at 0.48c per kb, it is still very expensive :D
