They were seen as one of the best police cars ever to be built. They came with two different engines, the 305 cubic inch (5 litre) and the 350 c.i. (5.7 litre), the later being a detuned version of the Chevy Corvette engine.

Never drove one myself, but they are apparently very reliable and comfortable to drive.

I like them myself, but I was always a Crown Vic man at heart! ;)

Yes, they are an incredibly comfortable car to drive. The Caprice Classic velour interior is very plush.

A pal of mine had a '77 and an '82, they were lovely comfortable cars, lovely to drive. The doors however rotted at an incredible rate.

You see a few of them around here.
The one you have pictured looks to be one of the last of them 87-89??

They had a very long model life and remained virtually unchanged for around 12 years!

That was a fairly accurate estimate-1990.

If you are going to buy one, try and get one with the 9C1 police package. Better brakes, suspension, slightly more powerful engine, and a thicker chassis frame.

Well I wouldnt say they are too plentiful now, would you?

You'd be better off trying to find a Californian one that doesnt have any rot!

You'd find a few on American eBay every now and again.

The later version (bathtub) came out in 1991 and lasted till 1996.
The design dates back to the late 70s. They are similiar in power
to cadillac, pontiac, oldsmobile and buick sized saloons. Dont forget
    the station wagon version too.

    Gotta love the woddies!

If you fitted the full fuel injected Corvette V8 engine into it, it would be one hell of a sleeper car!
