Power Supply Question

I got me a 2.4 Quad core the other day and began building it but when I hooked up the 450w power supply the system wouldn't start up. At this stage I only have the motherboard and HDD attached to the power supply.

Neways my question is...is 450w enough power to power the processor, HDD & motherboard? I don't want to buy a different one if the power supply is fine.

    Thanks guys

Connect the pwr_sw switch to the right pins on the motherboard maybe?
Or what about the 4 pin black and yellow 12v power to the cpu ?

I just upgraded to a quad myself , 6600 at 2.4 I think , so that would be the same as yours ,

The board absolutely will not power up unless you have both power feeds going to the motherboard , thats the 4 pin one as well , have you got these hooked up ?

    Yes it will ...
Depends on how many amps is on them .

But ya the other 4 pin might be the culprit alright.
