    Cheers.

And can anyone tell me if a T5450 Core 2 Duo
Processor speed 1.66ghz would be more powerful than, say, a Pentium 4 2.66ghz? I've know idea what processors are like nowadays!

    Cheers

Not too great for what you want it for, it would not be able to run any games in the last 3/4 years, as AlmightyCushion said, vostro 1500 with 2ghz core 2 duo and 8600gt is your man. The core 2 duo processors are much more efficient in comparison to the older pentium single cores, therefore the t5450 1.66 would be better than the 2.66 pentium 4.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro. Ive had it over a year now and have had no bother with it. I run my company on it and it is great. Hope you find a good one!

2.8Kg, If portability is a priority, on your budget, you'd have to make a compromise, for the games side of things anyway.

    mmmm....

Any ideas for more focus on portability, so - whilst not completely sacrificing the games element? Maybe 2 kilos at most?

    Any opinions on this?

And any ideas of its weight?

Eh...Google is your friend for finding things like weight out, not much point in me relaying things back to you...But seeing that the sony is a 15.4" screen i'd imagine it's almost the same weight as the vostro. When you say you want to play games, what are we talking here, latest and the greatest or a few years old?

Just to note, there's no point looking at play, they don't deliver electronics to Ireland.

The vostro 1310 weighs 2kg, i haven't seen one myself so i can't really comment on what they're like. I've read good reviews though. You won't get as good a spec with the smaller size, the graphics aren't that great, it'll run older stuff though.

Cheers - I reckon I'll go for something along the lines of those two Dells. The main things I need it for are writing, internet and photos etc.

After that, I'd like to get back into playing games again, although I'm not a games fanatic any more so I definitely don't need the latest and greatest; but I don't want to cut down too much on my choice of games. Portability is also fairly important for me as I travel quite a bit.

I'm swaying towards the latter Dell now. Such a bloody hard decision!!!!

    Thanks for all your help.

Yeah man, glad i could help. Just a note, the vostro 1310 (the latter one) says it could take a while to fulfil orders...not too sure why, probably because they're new to the market. Good luck with yo choice!:pac:

Dell XPS might do the job. A good quality screen and graphics card would be important though.
