    Hey folks,

I'm looking for an application so I can connect to my computer remotely. What's the best application? Can XP remote desktop connection be used across the internet... I seems like you need to use a Terminal Services gateway because port 3389 is typicall blocked.

    Anyone any recommendations?

    Thanks in advance.

You could set up a VNC server.

How secure would they be? Would there be record on the remote pc of what you viewed, say in the temp internet files of the remote pc?

If you want secure, forget about VNC, unless you plan doing extra work to secure it. VNC wasnt designed to be secure originally, so you need to think about the DSM enryption plugin etc.

Long story short: logmein is the way to go. Security is ample and it runs over port 443 (HTTPS) so firewalls arent usually an issue. You will need activeX enabled in your browers, however portable firefox is another way around that. The mains things free version lacks are sound and the ability to print to a local printer.

Actually, you'll have to eablorate on this, im not sure what you mean? Naturally if you use IE on the remote machine then the history wil be listed, just as if you were sitting at it. VNC by default does not offer and in-depth logging (and again, its suidicde to use it over the internet IMO). Logmein does have a little bit of tracking in there.
