I purchased the latest Samsung LCD tv (model no. LE32A456C2D) and the picture is poor (Looks like the new Beowulf movie), the sound is also very high pitched (tinnie).
My sky digital box is older than five years could that be the problem?
I purchased a very good scart cable with the tv so that shouldnt be the problem. Any help will be appreciated? Thank you.

You'll probably need to adjust lots of the image settings to get it to look good, the out of the box settings are always very poor. I'm not sure what ones are best for the new models (you might find the best settings on avforums.com), or even what options are available. But for starters, set the mode to Movie, not standard and especially not dynamic. Turn brightness and colour down to about 50%, turn colour mode to warm 2 or maybe warm 1, turn the backlight down low 0, 1 or maybe 2. Turn off things like dynamic contrast, movie plus, DNie etc.
