Deflector causing interference with RTE TV

From the Radio Kerry website today:

It's believed television reception difficulties in the Kilgarvan area are being caused by a private deflector system. RTE has confirmed to Radio Kerry that all its systems in the Kilgarvan area are working well, and says disruption in television reception is being caused by a transmitter on a person's house which is tapping into other peoples' signal. RTE says it's a very localised problem, and is an issue for Comreg, the Commission for Communications Regulation.

It says it's not up to them to refer the problem to Comreg, the people who are affected must do that. Comreg says it hasn't been contacted by anyone in the Kilgarvan area, but says if it is, it will fully investigate the matter. Residents in the Kilgarvan area have experienced television and radio reception problems in the past due to the construction of a wind farm in the area.

Comreg needs to be more proactive.

Its probably Healy Rae TV beaming out to the locals so Comreg won't touch them!!! I hear they're going for a slot on freesat when it launches!

RTE aren't bothered about protecting their signals...?? Very strange! Kerry is a bit far from the bods from Donnybrook to travel too though I suppose!!!
