I purchased the latest LCD tv and the picture is poor (looks like the graphics on the movie "Beowulf") and the sound is very high pitched (tin sounding). My sky digital box is older than five years could that be the problem?

I did buy an expensive scart cable to do the installation, so that couldnt be the problem.

Any advice would be appreciated? Thank you.

Make sure you have the scart plugged into AV1 on the TV (not all av inputs are RGB compatible) , on the sky box go to picture - settings and make sure scart is set to RGB, not PAL, save the changes, as for the sound make sure the volume output for the sky box is not set to max, about half way is usually right, then play around with the different sound modes on the TV, you could be on Speech instead of normal or movie, really down to personal taste at that stage.

Samsung LCD's seem to be quite 'digital' in their picture, play around with the picture settings, try and borrow a setup DVD off someone or pick one up on Ebay, a dvd with test patterns to optimise the picture settings.

Other than that there isn't much you can do.

The PAL - RGB adjustment on the sky box is the most important one

    Hope that helps,

    V

Thank you for the tips.. I will double check my settings.

Please give me further details on the dvd one can use to adjust the set up on an LCD?

    Once again thank you :)
