I've recently decided to apply for a Research Masters in Psychology Problem is tho the lecturers in the college I want to go to mostly seem to specalise in one area - cognition- and although I did my final year thesis in the area of congition im not really interested in it and couldnt see myself spending 2 years in an area I dont like.

I know nothing really of the process of applying for a MA, I know you have to come up with research proposal and approach the head of department to get approval. But how do I come up with a good idea? Would the college help me out or do I have to have an idea completely thought out before I apply?

Any advice would help as Im totally lost here
    Thanks

It's worth looking into the research interests of the staff who'd be supervising you (the uni website will usually have staff bios where they go on and on about it) so you at least know what kinda subject will win you more favour! Have you literally nothing you're interested in researching (and if not, why are you doing the MA in the first place?)

Oh no its not that there is nothing Im interested in- the exact opposite in fact. There are so many areas im fascinated by and would love to learn more about I just dont know how to come up with something worthwhile and sustainable to do.

I was talking to a friend today and he said that alot of lecturers have resarch they would like to do and are happy to pass ideas on to students and supervise so Im going to approach a few in the next few days

(oh sorry - its moneybox replying here using bally8's name by accident)
