Just thinking about things from The Wire that slip into your everyday life that seem perfectly normal to you, but other people might find a bit weird..for me - meet Bunk and McNulty...

    Thats brilliant!!

Apart from just affecting my overall views on social issues the only real thing I can think of is I seem to have started saying "Sheeeeiit" a fair bit.

Bunk (or is it McNulty?) is looking majorly hung over in the first pic :D.

As regards The Wire affecting real life - well I have wondered whether the way Mayor Royce was portrayed had any parallels with a certain Irish politician and their stories did seem to intersect quite a bit without needing to inject too much dramatic licence so..............:pac:

I started saying "Sheeeeiiiitttt" alot also, and someone pointed out to me awhile ago that I was saying "Most def" and "Indeed" all the time. Didn't notice myself.

Some of my friends have nicknamed me "Wire" because my bebo page has about 80% stuff about the Wire and I never shut up about it.

My girlfriend is pretty pissed of with me because I just watched 4 seasons in the last 3 weeks. It was well worth it though.

I also failed a writing assignment after subconsciously stealing a lot of ideas from S2. I couldn't believe I didn't notice it until it was pointed out to me.

What ideas did you rob?? The Wire must be more popular than I thought, if examiners and academics are watching it too.

In general, i had few blue collar lads involved a little bit in a crime, and it all went wrong. I even had them feuding with a person of authority, not a cop but close. So basicaly I rewrapped the whole idea from S2. Very embarassing.

But in my defence, I had the basic idea in my head for a while, just couldn't put it down. And then all off a sudden it clicked, I just didn't realise why at the time.

    Saying "Mos' def!"

Also, when people say something that I agree with, I nod and reply "I'm sayin'!"

Now that it's over, I wake up in the morning and think "Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiet".

Shiieeeeeeeeeeeeet, Oh Indeed, Mos Def, you feelin me, and mother bitch (was that even in the wire) have all been added to the vocab. As are random renditions of 'you gotta keep the devil, dowwwwwwwwn in the hole' and 'I'm a free born man of the USA'.

Defo like the idea of naming a pet after McNulty, though I might just go with Bubbles too.

Based on advice I'd seen here I got into it and decided not to come back till I watched it all to avoid spoilers which I knews I'd look at. 'm recovering from extensive leg surgery and for the past few weeks all 5 seasons of The Wire have got me through the boredom. The Wire filled a void I didn't think could be filled after The Sopranos ended, which gives me hope that there'll be something else to fill it again - purely fantastic, top notch entertainment.

For me The Sopranos can't be beaten on its very narrow focus on the gangster and pyshcology perspective (a master of that trade if you will), whereas The Wire excelled in the sheer diversity and variety progressed in each season and even though it moved into several different realms, it was far beyond just being a jack of each of those trades - all round genius from start to finish (though pity the first 6 episodes are so slow moving - probably loses a lot of casual viewers).

That's something I really love about the show, that it never really tries to keep you gripped, but does anyway. It's like it never has to make an effort - no cliffhangers, etc. (Well, the only one I can think of is Kima's shooting, although I'm only halfway through Season 4 atm).

Season 1 did burn slowly, but it paid off dividends by the end, and after that there was no turning back for me!

ive started telling people they're Natural Police if they do something smart..

I hum "deep in the hole, down in the hole" from the season 4 version all the time

Myself and the lads in the house are thinking of having a Dress up as a character in The Wire night. Anyone going as Omar has to prove worthy.

I interrupt conversations with other Wireheads with the words "Jesus, Omar was class". They agree. Then we move on.

I burn my clothes after sleeping with a woman "fibre's...pussy"

I still cry a little when i think of Dukie

My impression of Snoops unique vocal style continues to improve

I often tell people i have a "Proposition" for them.

I pretend i'm Marlo by not speaking or moving for long periods of time until im scary. Its not working.

I bought the same hat the Spiros wears.

I buy and throw away a mobile phone every day

Ive offered my services to the Gardai with the assurance "Im the Irish Lester Freamon! Honest". They do not appear to be fans.

I Intend to have a wake they they did for Cole and McIrish.

    I may need help.
