I've got a Citizen Aqualand Pro that's in desperate need of a new battery before I head off to the Maldives in the next couple of months, but I've no idea where I need to go to get it done.

Are there any official Citizen service centres in Ireland?

    thanks.

The official Citizen Service Centre is in Shannon; here's the contact address:

    Citizen Watch Ireland
    Calcul International Ltd.
    Bay 20, Free West Zone
    Shannon
    Co Clare
    Tel: 061 472 722
    Email: calcul@solatrex.com

I'd give them a call first and see exactly what the procedure is. I've the Aqualand Eco-Drive, so no battery replacements for me ;)

    More information here.

I have used Calcul before for a Citizen watch and would recomend them. You post the watch to them and they ring you back with the price for repair after receiving it. From what i remember this price includes return postage.

I found them very efficient and excellent to deal with. That was a couple of years ago

thanks lads, just need the battery replaced but if I see bubbles coming out of it on my next dive I think I'll cry, so I need it re-sealed properly etc. :)

hmm, eco-drive eh? sounds like I might be due an upgrade, I've not even got the blue light one, just the old single white/yellow light. :(

it's rated to 200m and altho i know I'll never be that deep (well, maybe on my very last dive ever :D) but I'll be taking it down deep enough at some point in the future so I want to make sure it's done properly.

    thanks again for the info.

Definitely get it done by an authorised dealer/manufacturer. It has to be serviced and sealed correctly, if it's not done by them then your warranty may be voided.

On the subject of Eco-Drive, this is the model I own. Great watch!

Citizen Eco-Drive Men's Aqualand Metric Anniversary Watch #JV0000-10F

There are two models, which come in imperial and metric versions. Obviously metric is what you'd be looking for, the imperial version is for the US market.

thanks, that's what I figured anyway. Id asked ina shop about it, but they couldn't guarantee to re-seal it 100% so I said no.

here's what I have anyway, it turns out it's a hyper aqualand, if that makes a difference. :)

Calcul will reseal and pressure-test your divers watch before returning it to you.
You can reach the service department at 061 472 722 for more info, or email service(at)solatrex.com

I've had a Citizen Promaster for about five years, but the battery died very shortly after I bought it; I guess it must've been in the shop for a long time! The new battery lasted til a few months ago. Sent it off to Calcul both times. Battery replaced, pressure tested, and returned by post in less than a week. Give them a ring and ask them how much to write the cheque for, and pop it the watch and cheque off in the post together. If I remember rightly, it was €40 for mine. Excellent service overall, I feel.

There's two threads on Calcul in this forum; the other one is here.
Mods; Can I suggest merging the two?

I've another story to tell: a couple of weeks ago I went for a dive and the crown wasn't properly screwed down on my trusty Citizen. Cue condensation inside the glass and a dying display. I rang Calcul, they said "Sure send it down and we'll see what we can do", so I did.

I got a quote back from them today:

Replacing the movement (ie taking out the entire inside of the watch and popping in a new one!) €70.
    Waterproofing and Pressure Testing €20
New glass (there's a scratch on the old one) €15
Total incl P&P and VAT €124.

I rang them immediately and said "Go ahead". I'm delighted. I thought I was gonna have to bin a €500 watch (admittedly I only paid about €350 for it abroad, but I think they're about €500 here in Ireland)

Nobody seems to have a bad word to say about their service.

If that ever happens again put the watch on top of the lid of a saucepan while boiling spuds.

The heat will evaporate the moisture from the innards through the open crown, but there's not enough heat to harm the works.

Worked for me, and was done by one other diver I know as well with no ill effects.

i got mine done by citizen in the end, they even replaced the old rubber wrist strap with a nice new metal one for me for a few quid extra.

I'd never heard of that method before. I did try to dry it out using a different method; I placed it in a sealed container with some dry uncooked rice (to absorb the moisture) in the hot press. It dried out the condensation allright, but the LCD still died. The problem with both your method and mine is that they do nothing to remove the salt that would have been left behind by evaporating seawater.

just as a follow up, Celtic tiger how are ya in 2011 !!!

That crowd in Shannon want (and are getting) €72 PLUS VAT to replace the battery, reseal and pressure test (cause it costs more to test it to a deeper pressure apparently :eek: )

Oh and its taken 4 weeks to get it done too, and thats after numurous calls chasing it !!

and to add insult to injury, I enquired about a replacement strap and they have gone ahead and sent one back to the jewellers where I left the watch in and told them it costs €40

Now is it just me or are they taking the piss !!!!
