pardon my ignorance but what kind of guitar is that? does it have a bolt on neck or is it glued? I wouldn't be so sure about being able to get that fixed, and if it can be it'll be hella expensive, how much is the guitar worth?

I've seen worse fixed. As for your bad luck, I dont think that can be fixed. :D

Wood glue and clamps - no bother.

Its an Angelica, some unknown guitar I bought off a friends da about 11 years ago for 50 pound, the guitar is probably about 25 years old. Its a glued neck which i'm guessing is a bad thing in this case... The guitar is honestly worth about a grand to me so if it costs that to get fixed I'd be willing to forget about the gibson lp ive been saving for... So pissed off at the moment....

That Derrick Nelson chap does he do acoustic guitars? Any idea's on how bad this will hurt my wallet?

Yeah he does acoustics too, makes his own aswell. V. nice!

Doubt it'd cost a grand. Best to give him a ring.

Tough break, pun intended. I'd have serious reservations about blowing huge money on repairing a guitar unless it was worth megabucks, or had an enormous amount of sentimental value attached. My two cents.

    LOL :pac:

As has been said, everything is fixable, and that certainly looks like a nice clean break. However, get a quote before doing anything. I understand the sentimental value etc, but personally I wouldn't bother on such a cheap guitar.

It sounds amazin, plays amazing (almost as good as my takamine) AND it was my first guitar which I just found out is closer to 50 years old! Well worth every penny I have to spend, I love it too much... Poor baby :(

I hope all goes well for it, and that it's not too pricey, but, if it's only almost as good as a mediocre guitar, please get a quote and consider everything before giving the go ahead. I know it's got sentimental value, it just seems mad to me.
Well, as i said, i hope all goes well!

Takamine mediocre? You need to try some more takamines...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,172 ✭✭✭Don1

I have only ever played one Takamine, and although it did look nice and was expensive (can't recall how much) it played and sounded worse than the low end Yamaha I learned on. :) And as for my Ibanez...... only uber expensive stuff like Martin and Taylor have ever sounded/played better in my experience.

I've tried tons of takamines and i've never found them to be anything special, not bad by any means but still not great. I know that's a quite broad statement, but i just wouldn't rate them above mediocre tbh.

Very generalised statement. I had a beautiful koa/spruce takamine and the sound really was special. Obviously stay away from any of the G series or lower end AN series.

The first thing that came to mind was "Another Les Paul decapitation!" before I saw the second pic :pac:

Good luck with the repair, if you like the guitar that much it's worth at least attempting a fix. Derrick Nelson is the man :)

I echo those who recommended Derrick Nelson.

Dd a fanastic job fixing my guitar when the neck snapped as the result of some retard in school playing football in the hall where people were practicing....

Car yea, stupidity on my part but I blame lady luck on the rest, ah sure things can only get better lol...
