    It says ' The organization said 216 cyclists died in the Netherlands in 2006, including 106 in crashes with cars.'

    Any idea how many in Ireland? ... just curious ...

    it's the bonnet that is the problem but rather the top of the engine underneath, having a bigger gap would mean the bonnet would act as a crumple zone , they aren't that strong, instead of you hitting the solid lump of metal that is the engine
