1920x1200 will give you more screen 'space' i.e. it will allow you to fit more on the screen at once.

The flip side is that it does this by making everything smaller. So, for example, text will be smaller and harder to read. Theres workarounds with this (changing font size etc) but they don't always work as smoothly as you'd like.

i dont think you,ll notice the difference ,un less your artist, designer, using 3d max 5hours a day. i went from 1024 ,to 1900 res laptop, the main difference i notice is i nowi have room for all my icons, loadsa empty desktop space ,sum websites easier 2 use as i dont need 2scroll so much.if present laptop is working fine i ,d hold on 2 it.

Unless you need the extra resolution for something specific, it's kinda hard to justify paying over €100 extra for it...

how good are your eyes ?

windows doesn't scale well so unless you have excellent eyesight you would have to drop to a lower resolution and then the display will be fuzzier than the lower one. 1920 * 1200 can drop to 1280 * 768 with roughly the same aspect ratio, but looks worse thatn 1280*800 native. Other resolution drops are too wide or narrow

go to PC world and paw around with the various laptops there to see how the various resolution really looks , because no one else has your eyes

just to repeat Vista is a lot better at scaling than XP, but it's still shít, web pages look wrong , you can't make pictures bigger, external monitors with different dpi just look wrong when you extend the desktop, but if you 150dpi looks crisp to you then it might be worth considering
