Travelling when on Medication?

I'm on medication for depression. I'm planning on doing a RTW. Can I still do it? I will start in Australia. I would be ok there but what if you're travelling through Africa or somewhere? I know insurance won't cover it, but could you see a Doctor there?

You might be questioned by certain officials but just make sure you have all your paper work signed by your doctor and that his name, your name and the name of the pills are on the case and you'll be fine. And keep them all together in the one bag so they aren't finding them all over the place if searched.

As far as i know you can get perscriptions wrote by your doctor and use them abroad. I remember meeting people who had perscriptions from their homeland. Or you could just tell your doctor here that you are going away and bring enough to last the trip.

You can always call up embassies of countries you are visiting to make sure.

I'll have all the proper letters. What do you do when you need to renew prescription? I can only get a month supply at a time? Also, I'll need to see a Doctor there to get it renewd. Can I just keep moving from GP to GP from 1 country to another?

Id check first with a chemist here will they give you a supply for the time you're away. They mightnt - I was on prescription last year when travelling and theyd only give me a month ( possibly for fear of someone overdosing )

You could ask the Dept of Foreign Affairs if Irish embassies abroad would be willing to hold the pills if a family member was to post them out to you though Id doubt if they would and Irish embassies are few and far between in certain parts of the globe.

Otherwise you could do the GP thing in different countries or go to a chemist with your prescription and see will they dispense. Only thing is you'll want to be sure you're getting the right drug and not some imitation. Also you'd want to be going to doctors that deal with ex-pats ( because they'll know the ins and outs of Western medicine whereas docs that deal with the local population may not or have different ideas on prescriptions ) and alot of the time those doctors won't come cheap.

Theres no reason why you cant travel though, put a bit of thought into it and you'll find a solution.

This could be a bit illegal, if I were you I'd see if the 2nd suggestion might work:
