Name incorrect on confirmation letter.

I'm travelling to the UK as part of a group early tomorrow morning with Ryanair.

I've just discovered that the confirmation letter issued by the travel agent has my name spelt incorrectly.

(My name was submitted to the agent by a 3rd party).

Will this be a big problem?

I've tried getting information from the Ryanair site but it refers to "name changes" which would seem to suggest transferring the ticket to a different person entirely!

Is it possible to alter the name at check-in if it is for the same person?

Same thing happened to me recently (simple first name change from Jack to John). Visited Ryanair at airport 2 days in advance and they wanted nearly €100 to alter it! - it ended up cheaper to get a new ticket.

Thanks - is it possible to buy a new ticket at the airport before a flight?

    €€€€€€€€€€€ - I suppose!

Just how different are the incorrect and correct names?

One or two letter in the middle of the name won't be spotted in my experience. The ground staff just don't have the time.

2 letters are incorrect in the middle of my surname.

Perhaps I should play ignorant and, considering that I'm with a group who will all be checking under the same reference number, they might not notice!

    *fingers crossed* :)

If it's a case of a letter being wrong in the middle of an otherwise correct name then don't worry about it, they'll not notice or care. If they have called you Kate instead of Fred then you will need to sort something else out with changing the ticket though.

Well the girl in Dublin Airport noticed it straight away and pointed it out to me. I played stupid and emphasised the travel agent bit. She proceeded to have a very long discussion with her supervisor (in a foreign language) and then they both left the check in area. I stood there sweating and expecting to have my wallet raped. She returned after what seemed like an eternity with a boarding pass with the correct name and simply said 'next please'.

    Happy days indeed! :D

On my return, the UK staff at Bristol didn't seem to notice! :D
