    Hi all,

I am heading to the Algarve for some golf and was wondering if someone could recommend any good courses that are not too pricey?

    Cheers.

A while since I have played there but Gramacho near Lagoa and Salgados near Albufeira were nice courses and good value.

You might also treat yourself to a round at Penina, a classic Henry Cotton course.

    Villa Sol near Villamoura

Other courses that would be worth playing are

    Laguna course- Villamoura
Royal Golf Course- Vale do Lobo
    Old Course- Villamoura

If you intend playing a lot of golf then take out one of the golf packages. You can play three villamoura courses for example at a discount by booking in advance. Look up special offers on the net

I've played Palmares and Vilasol (can't remember which course).

Palmares is nice and was good value for money and isn't too busy unlike Vilasol which was totally chocca when I was there (this time two years ago). In Vilasol there were no rangers on the course and IMO alot of holiday golfers need to be moved along when they don't realise they're holding the whole course up. Could have just been a bad day though....

We stayed in an Oceanico resort in Lagos and the Palmares green fees were inlcuded in the price. It was great value.

I'm playing Penina and Palmares next month so let me know how you get on if you play them.
