I am going to the states in a couple of months time and I wanted to see what kind of apple stuff I could buy over there and what kind of savings I would make versus waiting till I get to Ireland to buy them (I live in New Zealand at the minute).

Anyway just thought I would show you my findings and overall the things I am interested in are about 37 percent cheaper over there (the apple TV is half the price).

    Check out the attached file.

P.S. I know carrying home an iMac isn't realistic but I was interested in the price diff anyway...

That crazy. Considering there the exact same product. Where do they get off charging so much.

I had a saving of almost 1500euros on a powerbook 4 years ago.

    I'm still not sure.

I have a Powerbook at the minute so I don't really need a new laptop. I will probably get an Apple TV since its half the price of the Irish one (hopefully some movies start coming out for rent so I can put it to proper use).

Maybe I will pick up an iPhone - but i'm not sure if I want to bother with unlocking etc - I know it's easy to unlock but I think I would like it to be a clean 'legit' phone from O2 so I can get software updates etc without hacks...

I might get a Time Capsule depending on my cash situation!

How about you ? What are you looking for?

Ill be holding out till the WDDC in June to see what goodies will be announced and released.

Probably pick up a new Macbook/Pro and time capsule.

Depending on whether or not the 3G Iphone will be released unlocked will determine if i buy it or not in the states!

Apple TV sounds like a very good idea, i have to say i never thought of buying one in the states, is there any hassle with getting it to work over here?

Also if i purchase Applecare in the states does it cover me back in Ireland?

Lower taxes + US dollar going down the toilet == lower prices for you!

Mmm I dont think so. I think once you enter your Apple ID it knows your credit card is Irish so it switches you to the Irish "locale".
Also if i purchase Applecare in the states does it cover me back in Ireland?

Not sure about that, never looked into it.

While you're over there buy some iTunes vouchers.. Use them with the Apple TV when you get home, bang in a US address and you've access to all the movies etc.. Thats what I did, picked up a $100 voucher..

No way that's genius! What happens when your voucher runs out - does it switch to the Irish store when you start using your Irish iTunes login? By the way, does anyone know what content there is to watch on the Irish Apple TV?

No idea, my voucher didn't run out.. U can just buy more n register them to the US account...

I can't remember what the irish store has, I use my US account for everything.. It makes sense as the songs are 99c US vs 99c EU... Which means ur getting songs for 63c
