Hi all,

I am having an extension built and the builder arrives Monday. He is pushing the idea of using caviy block and applying the insulation to the inside. My preference is for 4 inch block walls with a cavity filled with insulation. Not too sure why maybe I am just old school and I think that the builder might be going for the easy option. Anyone have any views or reasons for one or the other.

Also has does anyone know a monocouche ( or monocouche
type) contractor in Kildare. I just want to get the outside of the house rendered using something with the colour in the mix and not just painted on

strongly recomend you use an external insulation with render over . use 215mm solid blocks . very simple build for rendered elevations . no cavities , ties stepped or vertical dpc's

you will minimise thermal bridging and better u value .
