    Hi All,
I'm thinking of doing a distance learning child psychology course, more out of interest than for any actual careers hopes - might go into teaching or special needs assistant work eventually so it wouldn't be any harm to have it - but my main motivation is just out of interest at the moment.

I've seen diploma courses advertised online with kilroyscollege.ie and cmit.ie - I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with these places or has any other recommendations for part time, distance learning courses for child psychology?

Hi Silly Socks. I did the Child Psychology with Kilroys College a couple of years ago. It was good but if you're more interested in the special needs I highly recommend the SNA Training with The College of Progressive Education (used to be the School of Practical Childcare). The modules are fantastic, you have to work experience and diaries which allows you to take a honest look at your work and approaches to children. If you want any more information let me know :)

    Thanks for the reply :)

Well I'm getting married early next year so don't really want the end of an SNA course/work experience hanging over me coming up to the wedding. Am very interested in the child psychology area and the Kilroys college course is just 6 months which you can start at any time during the year which appeals to me!
Then next year once the wedding is over I'll decide whether to go for teaching or sna, but for the moment I'm just looking for something to do for "fun".

So would you recommend the Kilroys college course? The cmit one is 150eur cheaper at the moment, but would like to have recommendations for a course before I'd start it! As far as I understand there's no work experience with the course, is that right? I've ordered a prospectus but just waiting on it to arrive.

    Thanks!

u probably have already started a course but if not the CMIT one seems to have a better accreditation than Kilroys....
